Behind Harmonica…

VJs/AV artists Overlap have a reputation for staging beautifully hypnotic audiovisual installations and shows alongside a high profile VJing schedule. Their videos have been screened at the ICA, NFT, and Tate Britain, and their unique imagery seen supporting some of the worlds biggest DJs and musicians on the international festival circuit. An Overlap audiovisual performance is an intricate two dimensional experience of elegant abstract pop, scale inversions and re-mixed fragments of history, playing with memory and imagination, fantasy and place ..
www.overlap.co.ukDJ. Alex Harmonic released records and DJ’d under various names before running away to tour theatre in the early naughties. Despite the distraction of site specific theatre he has managed to spend more time than is sensible at club nights around the world listening to and discovering new electronic music and DJ’s. Inspired by recent visits to Low End Theory in LA and by pioneering DJ’s like Gas Lamp Killer and Flying Lotus, Alex’s sets move between genre and style at great pace employing an eclecticism sadly missing from many UK club nites. Alex believes electronic music can be curated like any other art form, that DJ’s aren’t just button pushers, and that the dancefloor connection is essential…Harmonica at The Printworks represents an opportunity to create something inspiring, immersive and different. A distillation of experiences and musical styles.
