This Is Hastings popped into The Sewing Parlour this morning on Marine Court to investigate the beginners sewing classes being run by Maika Crampton of Angels & Violets (household textiles) the atmosphere was calm and relaxed – a delightful environment to learn how to sew, with beautiful decor and a sea view you can’t ask for much more!
This Is Hastings met a participant of the classes who has so far managed to create a bag, a make up bag and is now working on a lovely little dress for her daughter, today smocking – tomorrow full ball gowns….
“I think these classes are brilliant, gives you the confidence to try new things”
With tea and biscuits and helpful advice flowing it, was impossible for Ms Hastings to leave – sneakily picking up tips on how to cut patterns and thread a sewing machine!
The Sewing Parlour also run more advanced classes led by Anna Winston of La La Rookh (Vintage style swim wear) Which is also available from the Marine Court premises.
New beginners classes start on the 27th of June until the 18th of July, there are three sessions every Wednesday running for 2 hours each (Including an evening class if you can’t attend a day time one)
This is Hastings recommends getting involved – its a great way to meet people, socialise and learn a new skill in a relaxed fun way (men are encouraged to feel welcome too!)
