Hidden Hastings – Fite The Good Fite

What with everyone (including This Is Hastings) getting distracted with Jack In The Green, it would seem Scrabbleman has struck once again.

Many May Day revellers might have already passed by, this seemingly new addition. As it is located at the top of some more steps (a pattern is emerging) en route to the West Hill Cafe.

Massive thanks to street art sleuth Andy Gunton for not only sending us a photo, but also an explanation to the message: ‘Fite Dem Back’ is the title (with that spelling) of a song/poem by Linton Kwesi Johnson.

Although we’re not entirely sure about its meaning, This Is Hastings will forgive Scrabbleman / Linton Kwesi Johnson’s terrible spelling, and hopefully others will extend us the same curtsy courtesy!

Don’t forget to tune into Andy on Hastings Rock Radio, all this month on 87.7FM!
