Let’s Eat Local – The Old Custom House

Published on May 15, 2012 in Food & Drink, Reviews

This Is Hastings took full advantage of a break in the weather, to breakfast in The Old Custom House, in the Old Town this weekend.

Ms. Hastings opted for a Soft Breakfast Muffin (fried egg and bacon in a roll), while Mr. Hastings went with a Breakfast Bruffin (poached eggs and bacon on a muffin)

The healthy slabs of fresh locally sourced bacon are as much an aesthetic delight as they are a taste – and although accompanied with a fair slither of fat (that Ms Hastings decided to trim) this is no detriment to their quality – such quality in fact that Ms. Hastings forgot her photography duties and prematurely tucked in to her food!

The poached eggs of the “bruffin” did the trick – oozing yolky joy into the soft muffin (rather than the chalky affair one might have to deal with, at un-named fast food eateries)

This Is Hastings would not only like to highlight the exceptional quality of the breakfast, but also its affordability.

So if you find yourself in need of a morning fill in a warm friendly establishment (with the added bonus of catching some sun), head down to The Old Custom House, this summer.
