This Is Hastings was in need of sustenance after a hard day’s work at the office. Today’s port of call was Simply Italian on the seafront, in the Old Town. (not to be confused with the other numerous seafront based Italian eateries)
Starting by sharing a plate of Fried Calamari, all that was heard in the restaurant (besides the singing of the lively matradee) was the clashing of forks, fighting over the helpless squid rings.
Ms. Hastings was in need of a healthy boost, thus opting for the Pollo Alla Grigillia (Chicken Salad). The simple salad with creamy dressing and roast red peppers fulfilled all bodily cravings.
While Mr. Hastings needed something more manly, choosing the Rustica Pizza (Italian sausage, ham and olives) – although as it happens it was too manly! The dense meaty toppings and a layer mozarella, so thick that a pair of planks could not compete, shockingly got the better of Mr. Hastings – a rare feat indeed!
This Is Hastings arrived famished and left filled – with the bright, authentic atmosphere and attentive staff bringing smiles to our (and seemingly everyone else’s face) Simply Italian is a simply great solution to any lunch or dinner conundrum.
