This is Hastings took a stroll down the promenade to St Leonards this morning to take in some sunshine and check out breakfast at the Love Cafe. Greeted with smiles and hello’s we took our seats, Ms Hastings obviously chose to sit at the throne situated at the largest table in the room, “When one can, one must!” she declared in a royal tone.
The Love Cafe is lovingly eclectic in its decor, ranging from collections of eccentric tea pots to delightfully miss matched furniture.
Although the entire menu sounded appealing we quickly chose a hearty bowl of porridge topped with maple syrup and nuts, and a good old bubble and squeak served with (in their words) a juicy sausage.
If you have been a previous reader of our reviews you wont be surprised to hear that the food disappeared rather rapidly, along with sounds of approval but little conversation until the meal had been taken care of!
The bubble & squeak certainly filled the gap it was intended for and the sausage was as juicy as it promised.
The porridge served in a deceptively deep bowl almost got the better of Ms Hastings so team work was required! If you need a dish to set you up for the day, This Is Hastings will gladly recommend it!
If you are looking for somewhere to get a well described and priced spot of breakfast or lunch with lots character and friendly faces the Love Cafe will not disappoint you.
OH! If you are lucky enough to visit them on a Friday, you will also be pleased to know that they have a resident (authentic) French food stall set up outside every Friday, serving delicious patisseries and cheese.
