Let’s Eat Local – The White Rock Hotel

After meeting the lovely Winnie on our travels the other day, This Is Hastings felt the compulsion to return to the scene of the canine crime – The White Rock Hotel. But this time to sample their lunch menu.

Offering affordable light snacks, sandwiches and sides, it was clear as to why the cafe area was so busy. Our culinary choices today consisted of a sausage and onion baguette, and a beef steak and onion ciabatta. Both served with a sprinkling of salad and crisps on the side. We were dining in good company this afternoon, so we added a healthy platter of cheesy chips to the mix and were on our way.

The weather was a bit too temperamental to brave the seafront terrace, instead we found a cozy nook at the back to enjoy our food – most noticeably, hung above was a chandelier seemingly constructed from the entire collection of runner’s up crystals from The Crystal Maze)

As per usual, This Is Hastings made short work of the food set in front of us – leaving the tomatoes as sole survivors (to tell others of the massacre they witnessed) With a staff seemingly made up entirely of French waiters, we were treated to some authentic Parisian je ne sais quoi, while we waited.

As we clumsily exited through the revolving door, we were greeted by a rare, exclusive appearance from the sun. Very nice cherry on top, to some top notch nosh.
