Hastings’ Stade has been inspiration for artists throughout the ages. With the fishing fleet, and net huts providing wonderful material for any artist to capture.
David Graham has been working on 10 canvases over the last few summers – he has been head of art at St. Bede’s (The Dicker) for the past 29 years, and is set to retire at the end of next term!
The large abstract oil painting (5m x 2m) is an expression of the excitement, the history and indeed the optimism of Hastings. With iconography ranging from boat propellers and winches to seabirds and the local catch.
David is looking to exhibit this and other work, come the summer.
