Tara studied fashion design with marketing at the University of East London before working as a freelance designer and pattern cutter.
Over the years, she has worked on many diverse projects including costumes for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, as a studio assistant, and designing and making childrenswear for her own label Little Puddings.
Relocating to Hastings in 2010 to run a cafe, Tara had a chance encounter with Maika Crampton and was invited to present a collection for the Front Row Fashion Show at the Masonic Hall.
This led to private commissions including making corsets, re-vamping clothes and the setting up of South Coast Samples – a fashion and textile product development studio.
Tara has been working with the Let’s Do Business group as part of the Women In Enterprise Awards 2012 and the winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Old Rectory Guesthouse in June.
Tara has again been invited to show at Front Row. (this time to be held in November at the De La Warr Pavilion) She is also looking forward to working with Warp and Weft in George Street on their capsule collection and hopes to develop South Coast Samples into a thriving business in the heart of Hastings Old Town.
We’ll be seeing a lot more of Tara very soon, when This Is Hastings unveils its brand new online video series Fashion Attic!
