This Is Hastings loves to hear about local success stories being recognised in the media. So we were happy as larry to hear about the some adorable (and very popular) little wooden critters (created right here in town) making front page news!
When their Wooden Robin was flagged up on the front page of the Guardian over Easter (right next to Blur frontman Damon Albarn’s face!) and featured in the magazine as one of the must-have’s for Spring, the Hastings & Bexhill Wood Recycling Project were caught on the hop.
The robin had been a big hit locally over Christmas, but they hadn’t expected to be ‘full-on’ making robins in the middle of April. The Guardian feature came out of the blue and has resulted in more than a hundred orders. The project’s designer, Stewart Walton couldn’t be happier about getting the production line going again – “there’s something so English about so many of them together all queuing up to get their legs and beaks attached…”
If there’s anyone in Hastings who doesn’t already own a little robin red breast – you can buy them, and a selection of H&B’s recycled furniture range at SHOP in Norman Road St Leonards.
If you’ve seen any other positive Hastings in the press, please do get in touch.
