This Is Hastings headed down to The Stade to witness the musical styling of “Holland’s smallest brass band” as part of the weekly Stade Saturdays events.
The crowd were treated to a whole host of toe tapping, brassy numbers from De Jongens Driest – taking requests as well as playing countless classics.
While all of the musicians were exceptionally engaging, the sousaphonist (wrap-around tuba) was certainly a focal point for appreciation – the playful oom-pa-pa tones got the crowd bobbing to its bassy goodness.
Fortunately, the rain was kind enough to hold off until the final encore. When the heavens finally opened, This Is Hastings was safely sheltered inside, with the delightful sounds of De Jongens Driest resonating in our ears for hours to come.
Yet another Saturday spectacle enjoyed on The Stade.
